Growing up, I used to want to change everything about myself.
Throughout high school, I was super slim and wished to gain just a few pounds. Then, I started moving on to my facial features. I wished for bigger lips, smaller forehead, clearer face.
It was ridiculous!
Then, going on to college, I gained a couple of those pounds that I wanted and my face was clear, but I still wasn’t happy. I realized it was because I found new things that I wanted based on what I saw as beautiful in media around me.
It’s difficult to fully appreciate ourselves when constantly forced with images of what we should look like.
The problem is when we start complaining about we should look like or how we wish we acted, we begin to question God’s work.
I quickly learned that what is represented as beautiful in the world will always change, but realizing that God made each one of us as a reflection of Himself is amazing.
It’s absolutely striking to realize that each one of us are made in His image.
“God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God, he created them; male and female he created them.” -Genesis 1:27
Imagine the value that He must see in each of us.
Knowing that God puts so much value in creating us, we should look to praise him because we are wonderfully made.
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”- Psalm 139:14.
