Watching more than a 100 people get laid off from the company has been a struggle. People I have seen or greeted in the mornings were forced to pack up their belongings and leave.
One person said, “I have dedicated 25 years, what is there left for me?”
Pondering why this happened, one of my coworkers said that once you reach a certain age, the technology industry sees you as unfit and unable for growth.
Thinking about this, I realized how cold the standards of this world are. You can dedicate all of your time and efforts, but still be seen as weak, too worn out, or unable for growth.
The good news is that God has a completely different view of you. He looks at you and sees His child that He created for good works. Knowing your potential, He never says you are too old or too young to serve Him.
What the world sees as your weakness, God sees that area as an opportunity for his power to shine.
We read, “My grace is sufficient for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses so Christ’s power may rest on me”- 2 Corinthians 12:9.
God can use anything that you may see as a weakness.
For example, the world may say you are too young, but God sees a young heart full of purity and love to be an example for others (1 Timothy 4:12).
The world may see you as too old, but God sees experience and ability to minister to youth from unrighteous ways (Hebrews 5:14).
The world may see you as too single, God sees time to serve Him and devote your time for good (Matthew 19:10-11).
The world may see ordinary, but God sees a masterpiece. (Ephesians 2:10)
The world may see broken-hearted, but God sees mended and restored (Psalm 147:3)
One of the most impactful people in my life is a woman in her eighties with a strong faith. That woman who is my grandmother is strong mentally, physically, and spiritually. Usually from the world’s standards, by this age, people need to be in a nursing home and are seen as weak. However, my grandmother gets up day in day out, reads her Word, then gets up to cook food for herself and her family.
God never told her to retire all of the gifts and talents He had given her. He continues to call her to inspire and uplift those around her.
Also, God is saying the same for you. He wants to use every piece of you to make a difference and be a light in this world.
